Indigenous Pacific Labour Mobility Officer (200000198) Brisbane, Australia
The Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) facilitates seasonal and longer-term work opportunities for Pacific workers in Australia. It connects Australian employers with Pacific workers, supports the administration of the Pacific Labour Scheme and provides targeted support to the Seasonal Worker Programme.
This is a 12-month Fixed Term full time position. The Pacific Labour Mobility (PLM) Officer will support the PLM Coordinator in relation to the recommencement of Pacific labour mobility in September 2020, following its temporary cessation due to COVID in 2020.
The PLM Officer will ensure that relevant stakeholders (internal and external) are kept updated with accurate and timely information. The position will seek to document existing processes and identify possible efficiencies for recommendation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate information related to PLM internally, ensuring the right people are kept informed at the right times
- Update PLM flight tracker with changes, including, dates, employer details, worker numbers, and track assessment progress as approvals are received
- Ensure updates on flight programs availability & access is communicated to relevant stakeholders
- Liaise with Home Affairs and LSUs to ensure visas are granted to meet deadlines
- Support linking SWP Approved Employers (AEs) with PLS AEs to negotiate seats on chartered flights
- Support AES/LSUs to meet border control /quarantine administration requirements within required timeframes
- Attend SWP/PLS AE/industry working groups to ensure sending countries capacity and timelines are being respected.
Required Qualifications:
- It is essential that you have demonstrated experience coordinating complex projects or programs involving multiple stakeholders.
- It is expected of you to have strong attention to detail, with flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing conditions.
- This position will require you to establish strong working relationships with a range of government, industry, donor and community stakeholders.
Key personal skills and attributes you must tick:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, and experience working in a project management
- Ability to manage a high volume of work in a timely manner to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communications skills with demonstrated experience in using communications strategically for advocacy purposes
- Competency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel and Outlook
- Highly developed problem-solving skills, and ability to think innovatively and laterally and strong professional judgement
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and within a highly collaborative team
- Flexibility to work after hours and at the weekends (Time off In Lieu provisions in place).
