IT Network Engineer - GMP

Successful candidates will be well-rounded IT Engineers, who demonstrate the ability to swiftly dive deep into new and existing technologies as necessary and who possess an in-depth understanding and facility with a variety of server technologies, network architectures, cyber security best practices, virtualization platforms, systems optimization skills, and IT best practices in a GMP environment.  The IT Network Engineer will help to meet the Company’s needs for computer hardware, software and networking tools. They work to develop, test, install, configure and troubleshoot computer hardware and software. As part of this process, they work to create proper documentation, diagrams and other detailed instructions to help other employees make the best use of new technologies.

 
Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades;
  • Recommends hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solutions;
  • Installation, maintenance, and support of Servers, Workstations, AV equipment, Access Points, and peripheral equipment including mobile devices;
  • Installation, maintenance, and support of network devices such as switches and routers;
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and liaise with staff for complex technical issues, provision new services, and maintain enterprise network standards;
  • Management of e-mail, backup, anti-spam, and virus protection;
  • Assist with the administration of user accounts, permissions, and passwords;
  • Monitoring Network and computer resource usage
  • Ensure the most cost-effective and efficient use of server and other IT equipment;
  • Undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining, and monitoring network security;
  • Providing training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence;
  • Participate in enterprise projects as needed to assess technical fit and ensure alignment between business and IT goals;
  • Propose and implement technology focused projects that improve security or improve overall IT capabilities and services;
  • Create and maintain documentation for all supported technology platforms and applications;
  • Implement network capabilities that support enterprise disaster recovery processes and business continuity plan

Minimum Requirements:

  • Fluency in French and English (Paris based position reporting to the VP in the US)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related technical program required
  • Prior work history in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment strongly preferred 
  • Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in network build and supporting IT systems, including broad knowledge of security, network, application infrastructure, and infrastructure
  • Working knowledge and understanding of various network and server architecture components (i.e. TCP/IP, Windows Domains and Active Directory concepts, VMWare, DNS servers, etc.) 
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office products including Microsoft 365 SharePoint and Teams
  • Experience with SonicWALL firewalls or nextgen firewalls preferred
  • Systems Backup and Disaster Recovery Support
  • Strong understanding of timelines, milestones, and deliverable due dates
  • Must be proactive in taking ownership for tasks and managing them through completion with little direction, with knowing when to ask for help and escalating issues
  • Highly ethical and transparent, with professional sensitivity and care for confidentiality
  • Highly organized and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent MS Office (Word, Microsoft Excel, and Power Point) required.
  • Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays on an as needed basis
