The Project

The Vendor QC Inspector supports The Client Project by ensuring that all materials, equipment, and fabricated components supplied by vendors fully comply with project specifications, international codes, and contractual quality requirements before shipment.

The role is responsible for monitoring manufacturing activities at vendor facilities, witnessing inspections and testing, reviewing quality documentation, verifying material traceability, and ensuring only compliant equipment is released for delivery to the project.

The Vendor QC Inspector acts as the Company's quality representative at vendor workshops, fabrication yards, and manufacturing facilities throughout the procurement and fabrication phases.


Detailed Responsibilities

1. Vendor Inspection & Manufacturing Surveillance

The Vendor QC Inspector is responsible for:

  • Performing vendor shop inspections during manufacturing and fabrication.
  • Monitoring fabrication and assembly activities.
  • Witnessing inspections in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Verifying Hold, Witness, Review, and Surveillance Points.
  • Ensuring manufacturing activities comply with approved Quality Control Plans (QCPs).
  • Monitoring production progress.
  • Verifying manufacturing procedures are followed.
  • Coordinating inspection activities with vendors and contractors.
  • Preventing progression beyond Hold Points without Company approval.

2. Manufacturing Quality Control

Task for monitoring quality during:

  • Material receiving inspection.
  • Fabrication.
  • Welding activities.
  • Pipe spool fabrication.
  • Structural steel fabrication.
  • Pressure vessel manufacturing.
  • Mechanical assembly.
  • Dimensional inspections.
  • Heat treatment (PWHT).
  • Surface preparation.
  • Painting and coating.
  • Equipment preservation.
  • Packing and shipment preparation.

3. Welding & NDT Inspection

The Vendor QC Inspector verifies:

  • Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR).
  • Welder Qualifications.
  • Weld maps.
  • Welding consumables.
  • Weld traceability.
  • Welding workmanship.

Responsible for witnessing and reviewing:

  • Radiographic Testing (RT).
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT).
  • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
  • Visual Inspection (VT).
  • Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT).

4. Material Verification & Traceability

The Vendor QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring:

  • Material conformity.
  • Material identification.
  • Material traceability.
  • Verification of Material Test Certificates (MTC/MTR).
  • Heat number traceability.
  • Proper storage and preservation.
  • Segregation of non-conforming materials.
  • Compliance with approved material specifications.

The objective is to ensure full traceability from raw material to completed equipment.


5. Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

The Vendor QC Inspector participates in:

  • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Hydrostatic Tests.
  • Pneumatic Tests.
  • Functional Tests.
  • Performance Tests.
  • Mechanical Completion inspections.
  • Final Acceptance inspections.
  • Pre-shipment inspections.

Prior to shipment, the inspector verifies:

  • Equipment functionality.
  • Preservation.
  • Packing.
  • Marking.
  • Shipping readiness.

6. Documentation Review

Responsible for reviewing and verifying:

  • Material Test Certificates (MTC/MTR).
  • Welding documentation.
  • WPS.
  • WPQR.
  • Weld maps.
  • NDT reports.
  • Welder qualifications.
  • Calibration certificates.
  • Inspection reports.
  • Test reports.
  • Manufacturing Record Books (MRB).
  • Vendor Quality Dossiers.
  • Final Release Notes.
  • Shipping Release Certificates.

The objective is to ensure complete and accurate manufacturing documentation before equipment release.


7. Quality Assurance & Compliance

The Vendor QC Inspector ensures compliance with:

  • Project Specifications.
  • Contract Requirements.

  • Manufacturing Procedures.

8. Non-Conformance Management

The Vendor QC Inspector is responsible for:

  • Identifying quality deviations.
  • Raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Monitoring corrective actions.
  • Verifying implementation of corrective actions.
  • Confirming NCR closure.
  • Preventing shipment of non-conforming equipment.
  • Escalating significant quality issues to the Project QA/QC Team.

9. Reporting & Coordination

The Vendor QC Inspector prepares:

  • Daily inspection reports.
  • Visit reports.
  • Quality surveillance reports.
  • NCR reports.
  • Release recommendations.
  • Progress updates.
  • Lessons Learned reports.

The role coordinates daily with:

  • Vendor QC Personnel.
  • Manufacturing Supervisors.
