Job Overview
The ESG Legal Consultant will support the Societal Division by providing legal expertise across key Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) topics. The role involves advising on regulatory frameworks, managing legal risks, and supporting internal stakeholders on sustainability-related matters within a highly dynamic and evolving legal landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory
- Provide legal analysis and regulatory guidance on climate-related matters, including external publications and voluntary commitments
- Support contractual aspects of partnerships (e.g., industry alliances such as OGCI)
- Monitor developments in climate law and related litigation
- Contribute to the prevention of greenwashing risks by reviewing environmental claims and advertising materials
- Support communication teams through legal validation of external content
- Handle potential disputes before advertising self-regulation bodies (e.g., JDP)
- Conduct legal reviews of internal and external documentation related to human rights
- Assist in the legal aspects of risk mapping processes
- Provide legal support for CSRD reporting to relevant internal departments (Sustainability & Climate, Environment, Procurement)
- Deliver legal advice on broader ESG topics including duty of care, biodiversity, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable development
Regulatory Advocacy
- Analyze the legal impact of legislative proposals at EU and French levels
- Draft position papers and proposed amendments in collaboration with Public Affairs teams
Key Deliverables
- Legal opinions and regulatory analyses on ESG-related topics
- Reviewed and validated internal and external ESG documentation
- Contributions to risk mapping and compliance processes
- Position papers and advocacy documents related to regulatory developments

This role operates under the supervision of the Head of the Societal Division. The position covers high-stakes and forward-looking ESG topics, involving significant legal, reputational, and compliance risks, while offering strong exposure to strategic sustainability challenges within a global organization.
