Experienced 2nd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer needed for IT focused Gloucester based electrical contractor with branches nationwide

The Role

As 2nd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer  you will provide 2nd line deskside and remote IT support to all users. Your responsibilities will include:

  • mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior team members
  • troubleshooting software / hardware faults across user & infrastructure estates
  • configuring / deploying software to laptops, desktops and mobile devices
  • installing software and services across a Microsoft server estate
  • maintaining Microsoft, VMware and storage servers
  • delivering IT inductions and training to employees
  • completing internal user desk moves including phones

The Person

As 2nd Line Support Engineer you will have relevant qualifications ( RITTech / Microsoft ) and experience in a similar role. With an understanding of basic cyber security principles and experience working to defined SLAs you will also have:

  • familiarity with key Microsoft software ( Office 365 / Outlook ) /
  • understanding of Apple iOS devices / MDMs
  • experience building, administering, maintaining Microsoft servers
  • good understanding of AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO / knowledge of VMware
  • familiarity with Datacentre environments / physical network infrastructure ( eg patching )
  • excellent attention to detail / quality of work
  • good organisational & time management skills / capacity to work under pressure
  • ability to communicate confidently and clearly to internal customers of all levels, face-to-face & remotely

Full driving licence is essential as you will have to travel to our branches on occasion
