Rewarding hands-on role manufacturing & installing high quality children’s play equipment for family run business in South Wales
The Role
Using your Carpentry / Joinery expertise you will work from exacting design drawings to manufacture a wide range of children’s play equipment to precise dimensions. Play equipment to be manufactured includes a variety of rope nets and features for climbing and scrambling on, wooden climbing frames of various sizes, and wooden play equipment of various designs, together with associated metal work, fixings and fittings.
Manufacturing and production will be mainly undertaken in the workshop using a wide range of materials, equipment, machines and tools. You will also be required to undertake and assist with installation of the play equipment for a variety of customers in different locations. Site based duties will include site preparation, equipment construction, installation and maintenance of play equipment, to required standards. Your duties will include:
- process / interpret / manufacture bespoke and in-house designs
- work with / process wood, metal and rope using a variety of machine and hand tools
- interpret 2D and 3D designs
- undertake quality assurance inspections and tests
- stock control materials, maintain and manage an organised, clean and tidy workshop
- install playground equipment in different geographic locations
The Company
Our client is a dynamic, family run business based in Wales in the Heads of the Valley. They manufacture high quality children’s play equipment using wood, metal and combination rope. They have a standard range of products as well as an extensive portfolio of bespoke work. All products are produced to exacting designs, with a focus on quality.
The factory is commutable from Cardiff: direct train or under an hour’s drive.
The Person
As a Carpenter / Joiner you will be practical and hands on, with experience of working with wood, metal and rope, using both hand & power tools whilst working from complex 3D designs. You will be creative, flexible, enthusiastic and hardworking with the following:
- excellent communication skills with ability to liaise with customers & clients, internal and external
- ability to work unsupervised and/or as part of a team to see projects through to completion
- flexible attitude – there will be some working on site and away from home
This role has significant scope for job growth as a key member of the company staff.
This role will be offered subject to a satisfactory DBS check and health assessment check. A full driving licence is essential.
