The role

Our client is a globally recognized, industry-leading manufacturer situated in Telford, who has a superb opportunity for a Lead Design Engineer to join their Technical Department.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the (re)design and development of automated machinery, equipment and component parts to enhance overall health and performance  
  • Proposing and implementing improvements across all engineering functions
  • Supporting the drafting of Technical Manuals in line with agreed company standards
  • Ensuring all documentation and products conform to relevant industry standards (ISO9001, ISO14001 & BS8888 etc)
  • Overseeing improvement projects from conception to completion
  • Proposing, negotiating and finalising project specifications and timelines with various stakeholders
  • Ensuring the workload within the technical team is comprehensively managed
  • Ensuring all project work with the team is formulated so as to prioritise quality (functionality, reliability, efficiency and accuracy etc) of the final product
  • Identifying, analysing and proposing solutions for existing quality shortfalls or deficiencies through regular interdepartmental meetings
  • Proactively scoping out continuous improvement opportunities

What you’ll need

  • A Degree in Mechanical or Mechanical Design Engineering or HND equivalent
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Inventor (essential)
  • Time-served within a manufacturing background (FMCG or similar desirable)
  • Experience of automation projects (desirable)
  • Proficient in FMEA
  • A recognised Occupational Health and Safety qualification (desirable)
