A heritage British manufacturer of bespoke heavy industrial lifting equipment is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a tight‑knit, expert engineering team. This is a role with real depth: complex design challenges, end‑to‑end ownership, and a clear progression path to Principal Engineer within two years.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Taking full ownership of the product lifecycle for bespoke heavy‑duty lifting solutions — from initial concept through to product completion.

  • Leading design projects, producing detailed 2D/3D CAD models, and carrying out advanced stress calculations and mechanical testing.

  • Delivering engineered solutions across Rail, Construction, Aerospace, Offshore and other regulated industrial sectors.

  • Meeting customers to capture technical requirements and translate them into robust, tailored engineering solutions.

  • Working collaboratively with quality, production, engineering and technical sales teams.

  • Managing multiple concurrent projects, balancing short‑term demands with long‑term development programmes.

What You’ll Bring

  • Excellent CAD capability and confidence handling multiple complex projects simultaneously.

  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
