Healthcare Assistant Galway Nursing Home
We are recruiting Healthcare Assistants for a client a well established nursing home in Co. Galway.
Various shifts available (day & night)
Your primary purpose will be to assist in the provision of care at the highest standards. To ensure that residents retain their dignity and privacy.
Responsibilities:
These are will be your responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
-To carry out assigned and delegated tasks involving direct care and all activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing
-e.g. washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, dining and all other aspects of daily living
-Act as the named carer for specific residents as allocated by the Director of Nursing.
-Contribute to the moving and treatment of residents to maximise physical comfort, utilising manual handling techniques. Provide particular attention to residents who have limited mobility.
-Observe care plans and alert Nurses regarding any changes in the physical and mental state of the residents
-Report immediately any incident or potential incident which may compromise the health and safety of residents or visitors.
-Communication with all residents and their family/friends. Ensure that all are made feel welcome and offered refreshments.
-Know all residents by name.
-Assist in the delivery of end of life care.
-Answer the call bell promptly.
Qualifications
Essential
All newly recruited care staff and those in post less than one year commence training to FETAC Level 5 or equivalent within two years of taking up
Long standing care staff have their competency and skills
assessed
Desirable
FETAC Level 5- Care
Experience
Essential:
Previous experience with older people
