Repair Stress Engineer

Salary: GBP35 - GBP41.19 per hour


My client is looking for a Repair Stress Engineer to join on them on a 6 month contract. As a Repair Stress Engineer, you will be responsible for providing bespoke and optimum repair solutions in response to damage reports ensuring operator schedules are maintained and aircraft downtime is kept to a minimum.
Job Summary
We are looking for an Experienced Engineer with an Aerospace Engineering background with repairs knowledge to join our team. You will be responsible for analysis and validation of metallic and composite structures for static and fatigue strength to support structural repairs according to validated methods. You will ensure adherence to airworthiness regulations, relevant design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capabilities guidelines. Your primary role will be to provide stress analysis for the repair/acceptance of damaged aircraft structures.

Pay: £41.19 per hour via Umbrella (Inside IR35)
Location: Filton, Bristol
Contract: 6 months
Hours: 35 hours per week Monday – Friday across 4.5 days (working between 7-7 at business discretion and 3 days or more on site)
Security Clearance: Basic

Job Profile
• Ensure all tasks and activities required for Repair Engineering are correctly planned, monitored and executed to achieve customer time scales.
• With good customer skills, provide responses for repairs queries, giving advice and guidance on repair matters as required within Customer Support processes and procedures.
• Create, compile and co-ordinate engineering documentation to achieve valid technical data for repairs.
• In conjunction with the Repair Design and F&DT Engineers, be a member of an integrated engineering team, ensuring its strategy, policy and direction is maintained.

You will need the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation, set objectives and prioritise to time, cost and quality. Deliver integrated engineering solutions within agreed timescales. Where appropriate, utilise and support strategic off-site engineering commercial partnerships to ensure appropriate capability and flexibility.

Skills/Experience Required
Essential

  • Candidate needs to have structural analysis experience within aviation
  • Needs to have experience with hand calculations
  • Knowledge of ISAMI and Mathcad


• Static analysis of aircraft structures using a range of hand and computer methods.
• Stress Engineering background, Aircraft preferred.
• An understanding of the fundamental method of static stress analysis and an ability to develop these methods.
• Ability to liaise/negotiate with Design, Customer Services and suppliers.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent PC skills.
• Be conversant with technical requirements for repair design.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into operational deliverables. Desirable
• Working knowledge of all Airbus Structures would be a benefit.
• Some knowledge of the application of FE analysis.
• Already holding stress approvals.
• Demonstrated problem solving ability Demonstrated problem solving ability.

Education & Training
Essential – Strong experience in a similar role
Minimum HNC/HND qualification and relevant engineering experience.
