General Manager

General Manager (gm1) Derby, England

Salary: GBP50000 - GBP60000 per annum + benefits

Overall Purpose:

To ensure the branch achieves agreed profitability and working capital targets whilst ensuring that service level and contractual commitments are fulfilled.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

·         Strategically develop the business to achieve and exceed targets.

·         Analysing branch performance with Branch Management, focusing on and driving KPI’s for the business as below

                     I.            WIP Validity

                   II.            WIP write offs / Nil value invoices

                 III.             Low margin invoices (less than 25%)

                 IV.             Low margin customers (less than 30%)

                   V.            Labour productivity (less than 85%)

                 VI.             90 day+ debt

·         Setting branch budgets/targets with Branch Management & line managers

·         Support Direct reports in the control and management of all financial aspects of the workshops in line with agreed budgets, including labour, stock, purchased materials and working capital.

·         Reporting process, sales figures on individual divisions to line managers.

·         Presenting long term opportunities of the region.

·         Ensure that direct reports have clearly defined roles and objectives and that they are developed and motivated to achieve the required standards of performance.

·         Encourage direct reports in their development and management of sound and efficient customer and supplier relationships at all levels of the business.

·         Ensure effectiveness of ISO Quality Management Systems

·         Promoting an efficient working environment through good housekeeping.  

·         Ensure high level of customer service from both branch management teams.

·         Identify, initiate, plan and drive continuous improvement processes.

·         Promote Health & Safety and good housekeeping in an efficient working environment, reporting all cases of non-conformance.

Person Specification – Qualifications:

·         Minimum Vocational / Academic qualifications required are GCSE (or equivalent) English Language and Mathematics.

·         Modern technical or commercial apprenticeship, a level or relevant NVQ level 3 or equivalent, IOSH Managing Safely.

·         Knowledge of industrial Consumables / MRO and products and their applications

·         Proficient user of windows based programmes. Experience of fully system based sales order processing and stock management systems.

·         Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.

·         A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.

·         Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organisation.

·         Persuasive with details and facts.

·         Delegates responsibility effectively.
