Job Title: Shift Maintenance Team Leader

Department: Engineering

Salary: £38,000 - £44,000 + 18% Shift Premium

The Role

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and established Shift Maintenance Team Leader to join our team based at our site in Wolverhampton.

The role can be an interesting and challenging one, with two days never the same. If you are up for the challenge and are looking to put your own stamp on the role, then we want to hear from you.

Working on a shift rota you would manage a small team of highly skilled engineers supporting our operations teams by performing necessary breakdown repairs, leading preventative maintenance activity and facilitating the promotion of engineering solutions for process improvement to ensure process availability and productivity are optimised.

 

Additional duties of the role will typically include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Ensure full compliance with appropriate Health & Safety, Environmental, Statutory, Mandatory and Quality standards
  • Actively support the department in the development and implementation of an Engineering H&S management system
  • Perform task observations in line with schedule requirements ensuring observations are clearly documented and discussed with those observed
  • Ensure detailed feedback regarding issue / root cause / emerging work is documented and communicated to the Engineering Planner
  • To ensure that all engineering activities are carried out in line with the standards for the Works Area
  • To liaise with suppliers / sub-contractors to ensure necessary parts / services are received and repairs performed in an acceptable time period ensuring the asset is brought back into service with minimal loss of production
  • Monitor and react to key performance indicators to drive improvements.

 

Training / Resource

 

Be actively involved in your own and those of your teams personal development plans to maximise performance in the role and the contribution to succession requirements of the business.

Support the Operational team members in the development of autonomous maintenance practices. Deliver training to operators in order they are able to understand and implement basic maintenance activities facilitating optimum productivity.

Support team briefs to understand department performance and resource management.

Ensure accurate records detailing the use of spares are created and communicated to the Planning function.

 

Health & Safety

 

To support the department in the development and implementation of processes which comply with the  H&S management System.

Ensure that own and team operations, including those undertaken on the Company's behalf by third party service providers, are conducted in manner which fully complies with UK & I Health & Safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies.

Perform local risk assessments of the work area and job in hand prior to performing all maintenance activities. Ensure appropriate actions are implemented in order to eliminate risk.

To ensure the contractor control system is fully implemented and that High Risk Permits are raised for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Party engineers where required.

 

 

The Candidate

 

The position requires a competent Leader / engineer with experience in Service Centre or manufacturing activities. The engineer should be qualified to minimum ONC or City & Guilds Mechanical or Electrical.

Demonstrable experience of Line management, relevant engineering discipline, continuous improvement processes, preventative maintenance techniques, dealing with contractors and suppliers.. 

Ability to demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills and be computer literate. The ability to work without close supervision, yet under pressure and to tight timescales is essential.

A knowledge of and ability to apply Continuous Improvement techniques.
