A Principal Controls Engineer with experience of material handling applications, such as robotics, conveyors, and/or end of line equipment, is required to lead a team of controls engineers for automation projects throughout the UK. 

The position of Principal Controls Engineer will include:

• PLC & HMI Programming and commissioning using Siemens, and/or Rockwell PLCs
• Safety PLC design and integration.
• Function Block (FBD) and Structured Text (ST) and development of Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
• Devise and implement control standards in line with customers or in house specifications.
• Specify the control system for automated projects. 
• Lead a small team of Controls Engineers in the UK and a couple overseas.
• Drive controls projects effectively, providing up to date timeline forecasts against each project and strive to have contingency measures in place if projects start to slip.
• Work closely with project managers, design teams and the customer throughout the project  

The suitable candidate for Principal Controls Engineer will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Technical qualification in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Control System Engineering or Mechatronics, is highly desirable.
• Experience with Siemens S7 and Rockwell PLCs is highly advantageous.
• Experienced with PLC Programming and Commissioning for material handling applications including robotics, conveyors, pneumatics and vision systems.
• Current, or prior experience in a leadership role is preferred, or ready for the next step.
