We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Manager – Trade Operations to lead and execute end-to-end commercial operations withinthe team.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing trade execution, trade finance mechanics, contractual compliance, and shipment tracking. You will serve as a crucial operational bridge between trading desks, financial institutions, logistics partners, and global clients to ensure seamless transaction completion.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Finance & Documentation

  • Letter of Credit Management: Oversee the end-to-end processing of Letters of Credit (L/Cs), documentary collections, bill presentations, and bank-related execution tasks.

  • Contract Review: Evaluate trade agreements and payment structures to ensure operational feasibility, bankability, and strict adherence to contractual terms.

Logistics & Contract Execution

  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Administer the full trade lifecycle, including contract drafting, execution, addendums, and payment collection tracking.

  • Shipment & Cargo Tracking: Monitor real-time vessel movements, shipping schedules, sampling/inspection milestones, and payment progress across active trades.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting

  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for external parties (banks, clients, suppliers, surveyors, and shipping agents) and internal departments.

  • Stakeholder Updates: Provide traders and management with timely, transparent updates regarding cargo status, payment schedules, and operational performance.

  • Reporting & Analytics: Generate detailed operational reports covering demurrage/despatch calculations, outstanding payments, bank charges, and key operational metrics.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5–7 years of relevant trade operations, trade finance, or commodity trading experience. Direct exposure to bulk commodities (Iron Ore, Coal, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Regulatory & Trade Knowledge: Deep understanding of international trade rules (Incoterms, UCP 600), documentary credit procedures, and global trade documentation.

  • Operational Mastery: Strong grasp of shipment logistics, contract administration, and settlement workflows in physical commodity markets.

  • Execution Under Pressure: Proven capability to work independently, multi-task effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-moving trading environment.

  • Analytical Mindset: Exceptional problem-solving abilities paired with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with a team-first mindset and the ability to interact effectively across regions and functions.

  • Language Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken English, Cantonese, and Mandarin is mandatory.
