Role: Online Writer – European Institution

Location: Remote from Europe - European Institution

The Role

This opening is to cover a temporary replacement starting at the beginning of July for a European Institution. There is a strong possibility of continuation into a long-term role depending on project evolution and mutual satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Following tasks will be performed by external service provider:

  • Checking and Publishing publications presenting statistical results
  • Contribute to production and development of other online dissemination
  • Communication input into existing and new interactive publications product
  • Contribute to the development of new products or review of existing ones
  • To produce publications without errors and inconsistencies
  • To ensure the quality of publications in terms of structure, language, accessibility and customer style guide
  • To ensure the publications are well received by users and improve the customer image
  • To ensure that the publications are published according to the deadlines set in the online calendar
  • Proposes editorial concepts
  • Compiles raw material
  • Reads and analyses documents
  • Rewrites and adapts content for specific target audiences
  • Devises editorial lines for social media platforms; writes, edits, rewrites and adapts suitable content for social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook
  • Performs journalistic research and interviews
  • Submits proposals for visuals that can be integrated into the content
  • Monitors various online and print media
  • Produces content optimised for search engines
  • Creates and/or uploads content in the website's content management system

 

Requirements:

Following skills are required for the performance of the above listed tasks:

  • Native level of English
  • Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience
  • Good experience producing or checking content for different audiences from beginners to experts
  • Ability to think of the user when updating, editing and checking online content always aiming for clear language, data visualisations and inclusive content
  • Great numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Good understanding of European statistics and show willingness to learn and improve understanding
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills, and be service minded
  • Good team player
  • Good proactive atittude
  • Experience coordinating and reviewing the work done by others
  • Great organisation/prioritising skills allowing them to meet the agreed deadlines
  • Good understanding of IT skills and tools such as MS Office tools, pdfs, CMS or MediaWiki websites
  • Familiar with UX concepts applicable to writing for online publications
  • Good understanding about accessibility requirements and be sensitive to people with limitations

 

Languages:

  • Excellent knowledge of English – Native in Understanding, Speaking and Writing
