Temporary Hydraulic Engineer – Immediate Start
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Temporary Hydraulic Engineer to join a busy engineering team in Burton-on-Trent. This is a full-time temporary role with an immediate start, initially for a minimum of 1–2 months.
Role Details
- Location: Burton-on-Trent
- Contract: Temporary, minimum 1–2 months
- Start date: Immediate start available
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
- Breaks: 30-minute unpaid lunch break each day
- Pay: £15–£20 per hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Dismantle hydraulic cylinders and inspect components to identify wear, damage and replacement requirements.
- Carry out repair and reconditioning work, including honing barrels, re-machining rods, replacing seal kits and completing welding or surface treatment tasks where required.
- Reassemble hydraulic units to manufacturer tolerances and ensure all work is completed to a high standard.
- Complete pressure and functional testing before final sign-off.
- Work safely and efficiently, following all site procedures, risk assessments and health and safety requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- A strong mechanical background with practical, hands-on engineering experience.
- Previous experience working with hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic systems or similar mechanical assemblies.
- A relevant engineering apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to specifications and tolerances.
- A safety-conscious approach, with confidence following safe isolation procedures and workshop health and safety standards.
