Finance Manager - CoE Lead (CHN-RA) Shanghai, China

Role Description

The Finance Manager and CoE Lead will be responsible for leading the Financial Planning, Analysis and Reporting Activities for the markets in Asia Pacific Cluster. The Finance lead will also be responsible for the management of the finance team in the center, providing guidance and financial oversight for the cluster working with the Finance Directors, interaction with the finance management team in International Operations and driving continuous process improvements for the center. In addition, the Finance Manager will also support International FP&A activities as needed such as preparation of management presentations, gross margins analysis and standardization of reporting.

 

This role is mainly responsible for Financial Planning, Analysis and Reporting activities including but not limited to month-end closing activities to support the managerial reporting for the commercial operations. The lead will work closely with the Finance Directors in the finance support to ensure timely and quality finance deliverables.  

 

The Finance Center of Excellence will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

  • Drive planning efforts for the budget and forecast process
  • Working with the business to develop the bottom-up budget and forecast
  • Proactively identify business drivers to support the budget and forecast assumptions
  • Prepare standard, ad hoc reporting and key performance indicators (KPIs) each period for the business and finance management for defined Markets
  • Support markets in month end closing activities (different level of support according to the market size)
  • Provide decision support to commercial leaders in defined markets as needed
  • Drive continuous improvement and simplification efforts in reporting, financial processes and tools

Responsibilities:

The Finance Manager and CoE Finance Lead will be primarily responsible for the following activities which includes but is not limited to:

  • Oversee the daily management of the Center of Excellence in Shanghai which includes the interaction with the business partners, finance colleagues and the direct supervision of his/her team; ensuring the objectives for finance are achieved
  • Developing and leading long term and short term plans for the continuous development of the Center
  • Provide leadership and direction to the teams in CoE in delivering financial activities and results to the business and finance management
  • Management of the CoE resources and priorities to ensure the appropriate support is provided to markets for the achievement of the key financial deliverables (budgeting, forecasting, month-end activities and management reporting)
  • Align the CoE team around a shared vision and drive a high quality, value added culture throughout the CoE organization that drives business decision making and builds close collaboration with the commercial and finance organization
  • Drive consistent and efficient processes across the teams to manage, maintain and produce standardized regular planning and budgeting and forecasting reports, management reports, ad hoc analyses, and KPIs for all markets within the CoE
  • Continuously assess opportunities for improvement / efficiency through maintaining regular contact with key stakeholders and performing periodic reviews
  • Provide project management leadership through prioritizing, and overseeing multiple work streams to maintain the CoE
  • Ensure that the organization objectives are being achieved and results are delivered
  • Maintain strong operational relationships with the commercial organization and FDs to ensure that market knowledge is continuously being developed and up to date
  • Serve as key point of contact with International Cluster Finance Directors and Commercial leadership by Market
  • Respond to requests from market colleagues in an efficient and timely manner for various types of reports / analysis
  • Balance / allocate workload to fulfill daily, monthly, and annual peak work cycles of inbound market requests, while maintaining efficiency and quality in deliverables
  • Coe lead will also assist in the management of the daily workload of the team in supporting directly assigned markets as needed
  • Establish and maintain business continuity measures, including system and data backups and cross-training of associate roles to ensure seamless service to markets
  • Participate in special projects as needed

Qualifications (Training, Education & Prior Experience):

Education

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • CPA or MBA in Finance/Accounting required.

Experience

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in finance or accounting preferable with a multinational company
  • Hands-on finance experience in preparing budgets, forecast and managing financials
  • Highly developed skills in external and internal financial reporting, application of accounting principles and tax regulations, financial decision making and internal control
  • Strong commercial and / or decision support experience in different aspects of financial management including financial planning and analyses, forecasting, and management reporting and analytics
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Accounting
  • Working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management, SAP, Anaplan and/or Essbase is a plus
  • Experience in a consolidation/financial reporting capacity in a large, multi-national company
  • Experience with internal controls and process standardization
  • Experience leading large scale projects and managing large teams in diverse locations

  • Strong written and oral communication skills are critical. Good English communicative skills are a must. The individual must be able to simplify complex financial information in a way that is easily understood and deliver the information verbally or in written form. Proven ability to foster culture of continuous improvement relating to processes and operational performance across the organizations to deliver higher levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Good project management and change management skills with proven ability to coordinate and manage several significant projects at once.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and managing multiple projects.
