The Exciting Opportunity:

As a Chef Manager at a residential aged care facility, you will provide and lead the provision of well presented, nutritious meals that meet resident dining needs in a home like environment. You will always ensure excellence, whilst adhering to all related quality standards and regulations. The right person in this role ensures high standards in hygiene, food safety and quality while working hands on in all aspects of running the kitchen.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Ability to direct a kitchen team, maintain/improve food service systems, organise training, manage rosters and personnel
  • Previous Aged Care experience preferred
  • Enthusiasm for catering for the resident according to care/dietary plans 
  • Proven understanding of food safety standards
  • Well-developed literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
  • Ability to improve levels of service and compliance
  • Knowledge and adherence to Work Health and Safety legislation and policies
  • Ability to keep accurate records and suggest improvements to work practices
  • Stock control and ordering
  • Kitchen and food cost management
  • Communication with residents and families

 Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or other relevant qualification)
  • Evidence full up to date COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations
  • National Police Clearance Certificate (within the last 6 months)
  • Experience with managing labour, food & operational costs
  • Previous experience in operating kitchens and/or site management
  • Strong communication skills
