1.     General Description:

A software engineer is sought to form part of a small, close-knit team, designing specialised real-time software.  This includes specification, design, coding and documentation of software for embedded engine fuel control units, working alongside a hardware design engineer.

Being part of a small company means involvement in all aspects of the development process with direct input into the top-level decision-making process.

The job is based in the Gloucestershire area and periodic visits to the office will be required, although the majority of the work can be performed from home.  Occasionally visits to customers’ sites will be required, mostly engine test facilities.

2.     Software main duties:

Coding embedded engine management application and task scheduler/OS in C and C++, using proprietary library functions.

Environment is Eclipse linked with GIT version control and Trac requirements and change management system.

Proprietary company coding standards are based on ISO26262 and 12207.

3.     Additional duties:

The following will also be required from time to time, but may be learned on the job:

  • Coding Freescale MPC series Time Processor Unit microcode
  • Coding NXP MC33816 programmable solenoid controller microcode.
  • Occasional IT system Linux server programming in shell script.
  • Occasional website maintenance in WordPress and html.
  • General IT support on Linux and Windows PCs.

An understanding of or willingness to learn about electronic hardware will be an advantage.
