I am actively recruiting for a relief Production Kitchen Manager to support our client in York until the New Year, the successful candidate will support the Catering manager in providing a safe professional and high-quality service.  They will work with the Estates & Facilities Team and other Senior Managers to ensure safety focused service.  The highest technical and professional standards will be employed to meet the requirements of the Food Safety Act.  You will be working 37.5hrs a week 7am – 3.00pm over 5 days and the placement will be finishing on the 4th January 2021.

The Company – You will be working within an NHS Facility in the York area.

Role:

  • The role will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of patient meal service and hospitality menu.
  • Ensure proper and thorough cleaning/disinfection of all production areas is delivered by the team.
  • The role will ensure that all Food Safety and Health & Safety legislations are adhered to at all times
  • Assist the Catering Manager in providing professional advice/support to staff and customers regarding YTHFM’s catering policy & procedures and food safety matters.
  • Undertake menu planning and provide the appropriate diets to meet patient’s dietary and culture needs and where possible their life style requirements.
  • Assist the Catering Manager with research and assess new ideas in order to promote change and improvement in cost, quality and benefits to patients, customers and service users.
  • Assist the Catering Manager by recommending service improvements and cost savings to the next level of management.
  • Manage the catering production team on a day-to-day basis; ensure staff are supported, motivated and listened to and create a positive team culture that is adaptable to change and responsive to the needs of the organisation and for the benefits of the patients
  • Ensure that adequate staff levels are available to provide agreed service levels to both internal departments and external customers.
  • Ensures that adequate stock control measures are in place employing the Menu mark computerised management control system.
  • Ensures that all procurement of ingredients and equipment is carried out from suitably approved suppliers and according to best practice.
  • Support the Catering Manager with training, mentoring and coaching, appropriate to the needs of the individuals and the department.
  • Where required, support the Catering Manager in carrying out discussions with employees, Trade Union representatives or with suppliers or external agencies on behalf of the Trust

Requirements:

  • Professional Cooking City & Guilds or Equivalent
  • Advanced Level 3 Food Safety Certificate
  • Qualification in Supervising Health & Safety
  • HACCP Knowledge
  • Minimum 5 Years Kitchen Management Experience
  • Menu Planning Skills
  • Shift Planning Skills

Benefits – This relief role is running until 4th January 2021 and you will be required to work over 5 days 7.00am through to 3.00pm, so you will benefit from good working patterns and the pay for this role will be on a weekly basis through Castle and is up to £15.00 per hour.
