I am actively recruiting for a relief Catering Manager to support our client in Scarborough for 6 months, the successful candidate will support the Facilities Manager in providing a safe professional and high-quality service.  They will work with the Estates & Facilities Team and other Senior Managers to ensure safety focused service.  They will ensure a smooth running of the Catering Department on a day-to-day basis and manage the production process ensuring that all control procedures are consistently followed together with ensuring stock in controlled and costs minimised.

 

The Company – You will be working within an NHS Facility in the Scarborough, Bridlington & Malton areas

Role:

  • The role will ensure that all Food Safety and Health & Safety legislations are always adhered to
  • Undertake menu planning and provide the appropriate diets to meet patient’s dietary and culture needs and where possible their lifestyle requirements.
  • Ensure that the patient related catering activities support clinical service delivery within the agreed parameters and support nutritional care and patient safety.
  • Research and assess new ideas in order to promote change and improvement in cost, quality and benefits to patients, customers and service users.
  • Manage the catering team on a day-to-day basis; ensure staff are supported, motivated and listened to and create a positive team culture that is adaptable to change and responsive to the needs of the organisation and for the benefits of the patients.
  • Ensure that adequate staff are available to provide agreed service levels to both internal departments and external customers.
  • Take responsibilities for day-to-day delivery of all ward meals and to ensure staff carry out their duties in a safe, hygienic and professional manner effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensure proper and thorough cleaning/disinfection of all catering operating areas is delivered by the team, including both front and back of house Ensure that adequate staff levels are available to provide agreed service levels to both internal departments and external customers.
  • Carry out regular risk assessments in own department and catering operating areas (e.g. ward kitchens); report and handle untoward incidents via Datix as and when appropriate.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in managing departmental budgets, ensuring value for money in accordance with the Trust’s HR recruitment principles, procurement strategy and standing financial instructions.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and induction training of individuals within Catering and work with other disciplines (e.g. Dietetic) to support the training of their students.
  • Ensure compliance with the Trust’s risk management policies and procedures including maintenance and management of risk registers relevant to Catering services.

Requirements:

  • Professional Cooking City & Guilds 7061/2 or BTEC or NVQ 4 in Food Production & Service
  • GCSE Grade C or above in Maths & English
  • Advanced Level 4 Food Safety Certificate
  • Management Qualification Degree or HND Level
  • Fully Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • HACCP Knowledge
  • Minimum 5 Catering Management Experience in a NHS or similar Institution
  • Menu Planning Skills
  • Shift Planning Skills

Benefits – This relief role is running for 6 months and you will be required to work Monday-Friday 37.5hrs, so you will benefit from good working patterns and the pay for this role will be on a weekly basis through Castle and is up to £18.00 per hour, you will also accrue holidays for this role.
