Recruiting for an experienced Head Chef to lead the team at a Gastro Pub/Restaurant situated in between Scarborough & Malton, this is a full-time role offering competitive rates of pay along with a bonus scheme for Head Chefs.  The successful applicant will be experienced working with fresh, local and seasonal food and be comfortable preparing and cooking for up to 60/70 covers per service.  They would need to be comfortable with menu development and leading the small kitchen team with an eye on the financial performance of the business along with the development of the reputation of the venue after the initial first year of trade.

The Company – This privately-owned Gastro/Pub Restaurant that has been established in the Malton/Scarborough area for quite a long time, although has been under new ownership for the past 18 months and has had a considerable investment both FOH and in the kitchen.  You will be leading a strong kitchen team developing the menu and leading on service for up to 60/70 covers per service.  The menu is designed around fresh seasonal local produce and runs specials alongside this menu that change on a weekly basis.

Role:

  • To manage and lead a small kitchen team in delivering 1st class service through cooking, presentation and service
  • To lead on the development and planning of the menus including costings and liaising with the local suppliers
  • Ensure all relevant kitchen documents are up to date
  • Comply with all Health & Safety, Food Safety and COSHH Requirements
  • Assist with recruitment process for future chefs and lead on the training and development
  • Lead on staff rotas and making sure all areas of the kitchen are covered through preparation and service times
  • Control of all stock management including purchasing and control of wastage
  • Control all operating expenses in line with the budgeted GP%
  • To work with the Business Owner to set yearly budgets
  • To make recommendations and planning for changes to the experience and service standards

Requirements:

  • High Knowledge of Food Safety, Health & Safety and COSHH
  • Allergen Awareness
  • Experience in working with financial including GP’s and wage costings
  • Experience working at Sous Chef Level or Head Chef level
  • Relevant Catering Qualifications
  • Experience working in a similar catering venue
  • Access to your own transport

Benefits – The role of Head Chef is offering a competitive salary of up to £35,000 per year with the discussion of a bonus scheme also for successful completion of targets and goals set yearly, you will be expected to work 5 out of 7 days and up to 48 hours per week, you will need access to your own transport, but there is ample parking on site.  In the role you will have access to meals while you are working.
