Ultimate Staffing is seeking an AOI/SMT In Process Quality Control Inspector. This position is located in Fremont and 100% onsite. This is a day shift position 6am-2:30pm with a starting pay of $24-$28 an hour based on experience.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled AOI and SMT QC Inspector to join our team and ensure the highest level of quality in our electronic assembly production. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting printed circuit boards (PCBs) using Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems, conducting visual inspections, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and company quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate AOI machines to inspect PCBs for defects such as soldering issues, misaligned components, missing parts, and other assembly errors.
- Perform manual visual inspections of SMT assemblies using microscopes, magnifiers, and other inspection tools.
- Identify and classify defects according to IPC-A-610 standards and company quality guidelines.
- Document and report non-conformances, working closely with the production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI) and in-process quality checks to ensure production meets specifications.
- Assist in rework and repair processes by providing feedback to the manufacturing team.
- Perform daily calibration and maintenance checks on AOI equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Work closely with process engineers to suggest improvements for defect reduction and overall quality enhancement.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection results and prepare quality reports for management review.
- Adhere to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) handling procedures and follow safety and cleanliness guidelines in the work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in electronics or manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in SMT assembly inspection, AOI operation, or related quality control roles.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with AOI machines such as Koh Young, Mirtec, Omron, or CyberOptics.
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards for electronic assemblies.
- Understanding of SMT processes, reflow soldering, and PCB assembly techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
