Birmingham 2022 is looking for a Deputy Venue Operations Manager to take a lead role in planning at the Ports of Entry for Games Family participants including athletes and team officials, dignitaries and guests, international sporting federations, sponsors, media, and broadcast personnel.

The Deputy Venue Operations Manager will work closely with Venue Operations Manager, Airport Authorities, and external stakeholders in planning for the Games time operation. They will liaise and assist across multiple functional areas within the Organising Committee such as Venue Transport and Logistics in building a venue operations plan. The role will build and manage a high-performance team, including recruitment and training.

During Games time, the Deputy Venue Operations Manager will assist in leading the venue operations and to be the main point of contact for Birmingham 2022 onsite during their shift, and ensure all services are delivered, and issues are resolved in a timely manner.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist Venue Operation Manager to deliver a successful operation at Ports of Entries.
  • Assist in planning across multiple service delivery functional areas and stakeholders to ensure appropriate service levels are maintained through the Arrivals and Departures phase.
  • Assisting in planning and the delivery of service at Port(s) of Entry operations by air.
  • Assist in building and lead the Arrivals and Departures team, including recruitment, performance management, resolving problems, coaching, motivation, objective setting, and other duties related to managing a team according to the Organising Committee workforce strategy and associated policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with other functional areas present at the port of entries and in particular with volunteers to ensure a seamless and professional service.
  • Train, Manage, Engage and Motivate Volunteers on a day-to-day basis to meet Service Level Agreements for all client groups.
  • Assist in developing and documenting operational plans.
  • Prepare Games-time venue documentation including Daily Run Sheets & Radio Fleet maps

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Ability to work with, and influence, internal/external stakeholders to successfully assist strong working relationships and joint decision-making
  • Displays flexibility and adaptability in developing improvements to existing systems and processes to achieve greater output and efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting, training, and managing teams.
  • Able to manage and lead by example a team of volunteers.
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic working environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines.

Start date: ASAP

Contract: Fixed-term contract to August 2022

Location: One Brindley Place, Birmingham (From July 2022 - London based)

Salary: £35,000 per annum

 

Please note, due to the nature of this huge event, shift work including weekend working will be required at Games time. Furthermore, there will be limitations on taking annual leave during the Games operational period in July and August. More specific details can be discussed at interview.
