Junior Business Analyst- Contracts and Operations

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Analyst to support operational efficiency, contract analysis, portfolio management, and operational security initiatives. This role involves extracting key terms and obligations from contracts, translating them into structured Excel matrices, identifying inconsistencies or gaps, and assisting in managing operational and portfolio-related workflows. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of legal/contractual language, excels in Excel-based documentation, and possesses a solid understanding of operational security needs within a business environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Analysis & Documentation

  • Review and interpret commercial contracts and agreements (e.g., vendor, partnership, client).
  • Extract key terms, obligations, and deliverables into structured Excel-based matrices.
  • Identify discrepancies, conflicting clauses, or missing terms and escalate appropriately.
  • Work with legal and operations teams to align contract terms with internal processes.

Operations & Process Improvement

  • Analyze and document current operational workflows and propose enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure business processes align with contractual obligations.
  • Support compliance and risk mitigation through process standardization and automation initiatives.

 

Portfolio Management Support

  • Maintain and update operational dashboards, trackers, and performance reports for project/contract portfolios.
  • Monitor portfolio status, milestones, and risks to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Assist in evaluating vendor or partner performance based on contract-defined KPIs.

 

Operational Security & Compliance

  • Identify operational security requirements based on contract terms (e.g., data handling, access control).
  • Coordinate with IT/security teams to ensure compliance with internal and external data security obligations.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation measures related to operational activities.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Contract Analyst, or Operations Analyst role.
  • Strong understanding of contract structures, legal terminology, and business compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Excel (e.g., pivot tables, conditional formatting, formulas) for data organization and analysis.
  • Familiarity with portfolio management principles and tools (e.g., Asana, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of operational security concepts (e.g., access controls, data confidentiality, audit processes).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to handle complex documentation.
