Psychologist Assistant Mental Health Hospital Dublin South
An excellent Mental Health Hospital in Dublin South has an opportunity opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist
The Assistant Psychologist position is interesting for candidates wishing to gain specific clinical experience in an inpatient hospital. There will be opportunities to work and learn with adults and older adult service users who experience severe and enduring mental health difficulties and neurodegenerative disorders.
Work experience provided in the role will include individual work in delivery of psychoeducation, functional analysis of behaviour, direct observation, and case formulation development, use of assessment tools, scoring and report writing (All under clinical supervision).

Contract Type: 1-year Fixed-term
Hours of Work per week: 37 hours
Key Responsibilities:
Working with individuals to provide basic psychoeducation sessions, for example anxiety management, stress reduction, emotional regulation, behavioural analysis and listening space.
Co-ordination and some co-facilitation of a variety of group psychological therapy programmes with different clinical populations
Assisting in the preparation and delivery of the group psychological therapy programmes.
Become familiar with relevant background literature, presentations and contributing to articles for publication.
Conduct pre- and post-intervention psychometric assessments, including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients referred to psychology department.
Maintain collaborative working relationships with the Psychology Department, providing regular feedback from relevant programmes as needed.
Promoting the role of psychological services through the communication/provision of relevant information to interested parties
As required undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries in relation to the population psychological interventions.
Participate in research projects, audits and service evaluations as needed.
Attend regular individual and team supervision.
Work with other members of the MDT, in particular nursing staff to support work with this patient group.
Maintenance of equipment necessary to the running of the psychological service such as training equipment (e.g., manuals, testing materials, CDs,) information packs and library resources.
The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
Essential Qualifications:
Degree in Psychology taken as a single subject.
Eligible for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland
Excellent communications skills
Desirable:
Previous experience working either in a voluntary or paid position with clinical populations- In particular severe and enduring mental health and / or neurodegenerative disorders
Previous research experience
Some experience co-administering psychological assessments, scoring and report write up.
Experience of working in an MDT is highly desirable.
