The Department of Information Technology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Business Systems Analyst (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) to work REMOTE.

The Senior Business Systems Analyst collects data and provides analysis to assist in the development of technology plans and strategies that enhance overall performance, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies. The incumbent analyzes established operations, systems, methods, practices, and procedures to evaluate their effectiveness and ultimately make recommendations for improvements. Additionally, the Senior Business Systems Analyst integrates people, equipment, facilities, and other resources to improve work results, operating efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity. This employee also assists in the design, delivery, and improvement of in-house software applications, training programs, and related courseware.

Department Specific Functions

Student Success Management System

  • Understand current and future business processes, including short-term and long-term goals.
  • Translates business requirements into technical requirements to meet business criteria for successful integrations.
  • Interprets the transformation rules for all source and target data objects and develops the documentation to support the transformations.
  • Analyzes data within systems to ensure integration and transformation processes functions as per the business requirements, as well as identify areas for improvements, utilizing analytical methodologies.
  • Supports peers, and stakeholders as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) through troubleshooting, analysis of results, Production Support, and identification of opportunities to solve Business problems.
  • Supports the coordination of vendor training with internal and external teams.
  • Works with business and system analysts, business and technical data users, data warehouse and system design developers, vendors, and other stakeholders to execute project tasks.
  • Participates in Operational and leadership group meetings.

General Student Information Systems

Functions as the business analyst for assigned modules, balancing multiple projects and priorities within and across modules and customers. Responsible for the complete project life cycle, working independently and with emphasis on all customer facing activities. Stays abreast of developments in customer areas to anticipate emerging information management, operations, and university needs.

Defines project scope and boundaries; develops project task lists and time estimates; oversees and coordinates completion of project tasks to meet time expectations; meets with customers to review project status, coordinate testing requirements, and resolve development and/or implementation issues. Analyzes systems interface requirements, coordinates the exchange of data with vendors and systems support staff within UM. Ensures that required interfaces with other systems, and internal and external organizations are developed and maintained. Works with the student systems security administrators and recommends applications security protocols and privileges. Performs and coordinate testing in support of upgrades and enhancements to the enterprise applications. Drives organizational change taking full account of obstacles, opposition, and differing stakeholder priorities. Acts as a champion for business process changes; acts behind the scenes to craft solutions for business problems related or tangential to the project. Recognizes problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent. Promotes and directs future systems enhancements and development as needed. Translate between customers and IT staff to ensure all parties understand, in their terms, system’s needs, requirements and technology parameters and constraints. Understands problems from a broad, interactive perspective. Able to develop and implement solutions that combine information in new ways. Continuous contact with staff / stakeholders / upper management to provide information, resolve complaints and develop new functionality. Works with all areas to align and assign priorities. Establish and maintain effective customer focused working relationships with managers, customers, IT, vendors, consultants, employees, and others. Builds consensus on shared data elements and reporting needs across functional areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, Master’s degree in Data Analytics is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
  • 3 – 5 years Student ERP experience preferred.
  • Higher Education / Student Information Systems Background preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of student information systems is desired, preferable PeopleSoft.
  • Functional knowledge of EAB is desired.
  • Data analytics methodology and knowledge is desired.
