We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering business based in Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career within a growing business, working across a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of projects from pre-contract through to final account. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and clients to ensure projects are delivered commercially successfully.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing project costs, budgets and financial reporting.
- Preparing and reviewing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Managing subcontractor accounts, payments and variations.
- Preparing and submitting cost/value reports.
- Monitoring project expenditure and identifying commercial risks.
- Supporting procurement and subcontractor negotiations.
- Managing change, variations and compensation events.
- Reviewing contracts and ensuring commercial compliance.
- Working closely with operational teams to maximise project performance.
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
About You
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a strong civil engineering background. Experience within general construction, residential or purely building environments will not be suitable for this position.
You should have:
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure or related sectors.
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
- Experience managing subcontractors and project costs.
- Good understanding of valuations, variations, final accounts and cost reporting.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with project teams.
- A relevant Quantity Surveying or commercial qualification is desirable, although relevant experience will also be considered.
