My client, a well regarded residential civil engineering company are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their team and provide practical, proactive H&S support across our construction sites, plant department and wider operations.

Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager and operational teams, you will help maintain high standards of health and safety, ensure compliance with legislation and company procedures, and promote a positive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance checks.
  • Review and support the preparation of RAMS and Construction Phase Plans.
  • Monitor compliance with safe systems of work, site procedures and legislation.
  • Provide practical H&S advice to Site Managers, Supervisors and operatives.
  • Assist with accident, incident and near-miss investigations.
  • Monitor corrective actions and identify recurring risks and trends.
  • Support site start-ups, inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Monitor construction plant, equipment, traffic management, excavations, lifting, COSHH, PPE and other key site controls.
  • Support environmental and occupational health compliance.
  • Maintain H&S records, statistics and management reporting.
  • Promote continual improvement and a positive health and safety culture.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
  • Previous health & safety experience within construction, civil engineering or groundworks.
  • Experience conducting site inspections and audits.
  • Experience reviewing or preparing RAMS.
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and UK H&S legislation.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • A practical, proactive approach and confidence to challenge unsafe practices.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable: NEBOSH Construction, IOSH membership, NVQ Level 6 Occupational Health & Safety, Temporary Works, First Aid or environmental qualifications.
