Material Handler- Structural Steel
We are recruiting for a Material Handler for our client based in the Wetherby area permanently, with an immediate start available. This position is full-time hours working 4 days a week Monday to Thursday with 06.00 am – 5.00 pm, offering a pay rate of £11.56per hour
Location: Wetherby, West Yorkshire
Responsibilities:
To ensure that all Incoming Material is offloaded, sorted, and stored according to production schedules and H&S requirements.
- To be responsible for own activities and those of the Fabrication team within own area of responsibility,
- Loading trailers
- Ensure correct lifting and slinging methods are adhered to
- Carry out trailer inspections and report as required
- To accept relevant and appropriate responsibilities as detailed in the document – Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities to be found on the company intranet
- To maintain and clean area daily / weekly
- To communicate regularly with all Production management and operational staff to ensure problems are reported & resolved
- Report all machine and plant faults and anomalies to the Fabrication Foreman, Maintenance Foreman, Works Manager, and General Manager as appropriate
- Carry out edge protection inspection and report as required
- To monitor and ensure procedures are adhered to for all activities of shop floor operatives
- Responsible for implementing Company Health & Safety Policy with the Fabrication shop department staff and works areas for which he or she operates. Ensure all Fabrication tasks are assessed for risk and a safe system of work is in place before commencing work. To ensure a permit to work form and any other documentation as defined in the company Health and Safety policy is in place before any Maintenance work is carried out
Requirements:
- Experienced Fabrication shop background
- Experience using Overhead Cranes to load and unload steel plate
- FLT & Side loader experience.
- Ability to work unsupervised and possess a logical and thorough approach to all aspects of H&S and production
- A good Health and Safety awareness and experience
- Ability to work unsupervised and possess a logical and thorough approach to all aspects of H&S and production
