Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak Spanish with a high degree of accuracy and understanding.  A Spanish language proficiency test would be required before performing the work needed.

• Location: New York, NY (In-person assignments within a two-hour radius of USCIS field offices)
• Hours/Schedule: Each attorney or interpreter will be required to attend interviews in person, with approximately 5 hours per assignment:

• Concurrent employment permitted
• Training:
  • Attorneys: 1 week (40 hours)
  • Interpreters: 2 weeks (80 hours)
• Pay:
  • Attorneys: $60+/hour, depending on experience
  • Translators: $40-50/hour, depending on experience

Requirements:

• Interpreters
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • 6+ months of professional interpreting experience (legal background not required)
  • Proficiency in note-taking techniques
• Attorneys
  • Fluent in English and Spanish 
  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing
  • Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to guide clients through challenging experiences
  • Immigration law or mock trial experience preferred, but not required
