Conflicts/Intake Attorney (NY050925KC) New York, New York

Beacon Hill Legal’s client, a Top AmLaw 100 firm located in Midtown Manhattan, is seeking a Conflicts/Intake Attorney for a long-term contract assignment.  Responsibilities include resolving conflicts reports and addressing related conflicts of interest issues. This individual performs in-depth research, makes recommendations for resolution, drafts related waivers, and documents clearance.  The role is hybrid, requiring the individual to report onsite 3 days per week.  This position is full-time hours (around 40-45 per week) and compensates at a rate of $74 per hour.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review complex conflict reports to identify and resolve potential legal and business-related conflict issues, and provide detailed analysis and advice to partners, and collaborate with partners to resolve conflicts.
  • Prepare communications to attorneys, clearly identifying all potential issues and assist with the business and ethical conflict resolution.
  • Procure, review and draft conflict waivers for new matters work closely with partners and to obtain the waivers, as necessary.
  • Prepare and implement ethical walls, including drafting screening memoranda for matters and laterals.
  • Document or audit steps taken to resolve any actual or potential conflicts and store supporting documentation appropriately.
  • Analyze and review new business intake data, forms, and engagement terms to assist with the new business intake process and ensure the accuracy of the data.
  • Review conflicts questionnaires submitted by lawyer and staff candidates and communicate directly with candidates regarding any clarifications.
  • Conduct analysis on lateral matter lists to identify actual and/or potential conflicts and collaborate with partners and laterals to resolve any issues, including drafting and obtaining necessary waivers.
  • Provide guidance to the conflicts analysts in support of the new business intake process, including best practices, corporate family tree research, matter maintenance, conflict report preparation, and other related research and analysis.
  • Run conflict searches and conduct family tree and other corporate research, when necessary.
  • Research appropriate conflict and ethical rules.
  • Monitor changes in ethics rules, opinions, and case law regarding conflicts of interest.

 

Requirements

  • Admission to one US bar jurisdiction.
  • Prior experience working as a conflicts attorney for a law firm
  • Ability to commute onsite to midtown Manhattan
