The Job Role
The Warehouse Operative will play a key role in the safe and efficient handling of freight, including groupage consignments, using FLT equipment and supporting daily warehouse operations.
- Safely operate Forklift Trucks (counterbalance and B3) for loading/unloading trailers, containers, and vehicles.
- Move, stack, and rearrange freight within the warehouse and yard in accordance with operational requirements.
- Conduct daily pre‑use checks and report any FLT defects or maintenance requirements.
- Handle groupage consignments, ensuring correct segregation, labelling, and consolidation of multiple-part loads.
- Assist with cross‑docking of shipments to support outbound departures to Scandinavian and European ports.
- Check goods against manifests and documentation, reporting discrepancies promptly.
What do you need to be a successful Warehouse Operative
- Valid, in‑date FLT licence (Counterbalance essential)
- Experience working in a warehouse or freight environment, including loading/unloading lorries and containers.
- Strong FLT operating skills for safe handling, stacking, and movement of freight.
- Groupage experience, including handling, sorting, and consolidating multi-consignment loads heading for European routes.
- RF scanning equipment experience for checking, tracking, and verifying products.
- Accurate completion of warehouse documentation, including goods-in/goods‑out paperwork and manifests.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, supporting wider warehouse tasks as needed.
- Physically fit, comfortable with manual handling and general labouring duties.
