Quality Assurance Manager

Quality Assurance Manager (NWS12) Bath, England

Salary: GBP30000 - GBP55000 per annum

My client is looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join thier High Integrity Software team.

The team develops software for safety related and critical applications in the Aerospace, Defence, Rail, Automotive and Energy sectors, often related to critical national infrastructure. Industry award winning projects make step changes in operational efficiency and safety in their domain and are highly respected by our customers. The role

This role works within a project and assesses the quality of all processes, procedures and capabilities used to develop the project deliverables (and the deliverable themselves) against the Quality Management System and applicable safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting the project quality framework within the context of the company Quality Management System and applicable standards.
  • Ensuring adherence to the quality framework, plans, and processes through review, audit and other oversight and assurance activities.
  • Performing independent review of key outputs
  • Developing and maintaining the project’s Quality Plan.
  • Ensuring quality controls are defined and appropriate, including delivery exit criteria.
  • Managing and approving concessions to process through to closure.
  • Providing an independent view of quality that is separate from the normal project reporting line.
  • Facilitating process improvement.
  • Working collaboratively with the company level Quality Manager.
  • Working with Project Safety Engineers to ensure that the quality of deliverables.
  • Contributing to the Project’s weekly and monthly reporting cycle on the Quality aspects.
  • Working pragmatically with the project leadership to resolve quality, process, procedure or planning issues.

Skills & Experiences

Essential

  • 5+ years experience of working in safety related software development teams in a development or quality role.
  • A thorough understanding of formal verification and validation, and fault and change management.
  • Experience in the aerospace, rail, defence, aviation or automotive industries.
  • Knowledge and experience of software quality systems and the V model development lifecycle
  • Quality conscious with a pragmatic appreciation of the quality controls appropriate to the integrity level of the software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with others
  • Self-motivated and able to use initiative
  • Organised, good time management and prioritisation
  • Methodical approach to work, with good attention to details and strong logic and reasoning skills

Desirable

  • Degree qualified in software engineering or related/relevant subject.
  • Chartered Engineer and member of the IEEE or BCS.
