Director of Business Development - Charter Schools

OVERVIEW: The Director of Business Development plays a pivotal role in driving business growth by selling staffing solutions for substitute teachers to K–12 charter schools. This individual will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with school administrators, and promoting ESS’s value proposition in the education staffing industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in education sales, staffing services, or K–12 or charter school partnerships, and a passion for improving student outcomes through reliable staffing solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with local, regional, and national Operations teams to secure new school partnerships.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the charter school management sectors.
- Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline through prospecting, cold calling, networking, and attending charter-focused conferences and events.
- Deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to school leaders, district administrators, and charter management organizations.
- Understand and communicate the nuances of school funding, education budgets, and procurement processes.
- Build long-term relationships with clients by providing exceptional service and ongoing support.
- Stay informed on education policy, staffing trends, and charter school compliance requirements.
- Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and customer feedback to refine sales strategies.
- Travel within a multi-state territory to meet with prospective charter clients and attend education industry events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, education, marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in B2B sales, preferably in education services and staffing solutions.
- Familiarity with charter school operations, school district procurement, and education staffing models.
- Proficient in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to a dynamic sales environment.
- Willingness to travel frequently within assigned territory.
