Port Operative

We currently have exciting opportunities in the South Shields area for Port Operatives working within a busy port environment. The primary focus of this role is to ensure all customer cargo operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a varied and hands-on role, working across different areas of the port depending on business needs. No previous port experience is required, as full port-specific training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading products in a safe and timely manner
• Working on the quayside carrying out labouring duties
• Acting as a Slinger/Banksman when required
• Maintaining the safety of yourself, colleagues, and visitors at all times
• Working flexibly to meet vessel traffic and operational requirements

Shift Pattern

•  Days, nights, and weekends
• 12-hour shifts, typically:
  • 06:00 – 18:00
  • 18:00 – 06:00
  • Role Ad Hoc shifts
• Candidates must be flexible to work all shift patterns

Experience (Desirable but Not Essential)

• Counterbalance FLT experience
• Previous Slinger/Banksman experience
• Experience working in a busy warehouse or port environment

Pay

• £14.54 per hour (same rate for day and night shifts)

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
• Must pass a medical assessment
