Offline 5-Axis CNC Machinist / Programme

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Offline 5-Axis CNC Machinist / Programmer to join on of our clients within their precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, optimising, and proving out complex CNC programs offline, supporting high-precision manufacturing across a range of components and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise 5-axis CNC programs using offline CAM software
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
- Simulate and verify toolpaths to ensure collision-free machining
- Work closely with shop floor machinists to support setup and prove-out
- Continuously improve cycle times and machining efficiency
- Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and documentation
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues as they arise
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in 5-axis CNC machining and offline programming
- Strong knowledge of CAM software such as:
- PowerMill / HyperMill / Mastercam (or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings
- Experience with CNC controls (e.g., Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens)
- Understanding of tooling, fixturing, and machining strategies
- Knowledge of working with materials such as:
- Aerospace alloys, stainless steel, aluminium, tool steels
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Desirable Experience
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or Engineering
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement
- Experience with complex 3D surface machining
