CNC Operator

Are you an experienced CNC Operator / CNC Machinist looking to take the next step in your engineering career? We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading precision engineering manufacturer in the Pickering area who are expanding their skilled day-shift team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a modern, forward-thinking engineering environment where you’ll work with high-speed CNC machinery to produce complex, tight-tolerance components while contributing to a high-performing production operation.

What is on Offer

Training Period:

  • Standard day shift (Mon–Thu, 7:00 am–5:30 pm) for approx. 6 months
  • Rate: £17.30/hr

Permanent Day Shift:

  • 4-on-4-off pattern, 6:30 am–6:00 pm (11-hour shifts), 44 hours per week
  • Rate: £17.92/hr + £25 day shift allowance per shift (worked or on holiday)

CNC Operator Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate high-speed CNC machinery (milling, drilling, tapping, grinding)
  • Operate and oversee additional machine shop equipment
  • Prepare tooling, fixtures, and CNC programs ahead of production
  • Maintain accurate production records and ensure component quality
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Perform basic program edits and manage tool tables
  • Control, replace, and maintain tooling and cutters
  • Load raw materials and monitor machine performance
  • Maintain lubricant levels and ensure smooth operation
  • Work with 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining and Renishaw probing systems
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures

What We are Looking For

  • Previous CNC Operator or CNC Setter experience
  • Strong mechanical understanding and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently within deadlines
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
