A manufacturing company in South Oxford is looking for a Warehouse / Stores Operative to work in their busy stores team picking and packing items for the production team and be responsible for storage and accuracy of stock within your area of responsibility so you must have experience of stockroom and despatch procedures preferably gained in a manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for all stock being held in a usable state and proper location, paying attention to the product life cycle by rotation along with general housekeeping. You must be computer literate and educated to a good standard as entering data, stock counting and ordering of parts are essential and possible experience of using a handheld scanner for picking. You must be of good health and be able to lift weights up to the maximum limit as defined by the Health & Safety Executive.
- Proper location and storage of incoming material.
- Timely issue and kitting of materials to the production in line with production schedules.
- The continuous audit of all stock by periodic cycle counting.
- Responsible for the security, control and movement of raw material stock.
- Is involved with the annual stock take to ensure that a smooth and satisfactory count takes place.
- Ensures strict adherence and implementation of FIFO. Paying particular attention to the product life cycle by rotation of mouldings, engines, adhesives and general consumable products.
- Deputise for the Goods Inwards Inspector in his/her absence as required.
- Undertakes problem solving and other tasks as directed by the Stores Manager.
- Operates in accordance with the company’s Health and Safety procedure, and other related company policies.
- Building a close working relationship with other members of staff, particularly those in the Production department as it is essential to ensure customer satisfaction and targets are met.
You need to be of physical fitness as lifting heavy boxes is needed and it would be desirable if you had some forklift experience but not essential. Monday to Friday, 8 – 4.30pm, 40 hours per week, £23 - £25k + Healthcare & Pension. Due to the rural location near Oxford you need to have your own transport.
