Desktop Support Engineer L2 : Wellington, NZ

Excellent opportunity to work with one of our key clients for a suitable candidate having experience in MAC OS DSL2. The role is very busy within a friendly environment. Suited for a well-planned and organised professional with an attention to detail, exceptional problem solving skills, on-time delivery oriented focus and a good team mate. Role:

  • Desktop Support Level 2/3
  • MAC OS experience
  • Installations and relocation of PC, Laptops, Monitors and printers
  • Installation of operating systems and application software on server platforms based on client requirements
  • General troubleshooting - e.g. slow internet, safe mode troubleshooting, cabling problems, patch panels, software issues and hardware faults
  • Comfortable with imaging MAC machines and configuration, binding machines to Active
  • Building PCs and Macs; Software rollouts
  • Mobile device knowledge e.g. connecting to WiFi, adding email accounts
  • Monitoring Servers and equipment as required
  • Changing Backup Tapes
  • Archiving data from Servers
  • Able to document or update current documentation to reflect changes when required.
  • Working with client cabling installers
  • Document the installation of standard software and operating systems for desktop rollouts
  • Installation of peripheral network attached assets (e.g. printers, scanners and switches)
  • Patching operating systems
  • Prepare and implement system and security patches
  • Undertake IT induction training of new starters and training on Microsoft Products
  • Implements operational support standards and procedures relating to change and performance management, and security.
  • Acts as a liaison between the customer, suppliers, and other technical groups to resolve desktop/network/server problems.

 

Technical Skills Required:

  • Minimum 2 years recent experience in IT industry
  • Relevant technical qualifications are an advantage
  • Previous experience in Desktop Computing Hardware support such as IMAC perform / installer role
  • Demonstrated skills in technical and operational support roles
  • An understanding of Network protocols with respect to Desktop Computing Hardware
  • Ability to investigate and resolve desktop applications and OS issues
  • Ability to investigate and resolve issues with the process instructions
  • Ability to follow technical instructions
  • Ability to adhere to operational procedures

 

Personal Skills Required:

  • Good communication skills and customer service skills
  • Experience in working in a client facing role
  • Ability to meet scheduled timeframes
  • Be reliable in attendance and punctuality
