We’re proud to be recruiting for a thriving, logistics business based in the Gwent area, South Wales. As they continue to grow and expand across the UK and Europe, they’re now looking for a proactive Transport Planner to join their fast-paced team.
Working closely with the European Transport Manager, you’ll play a key role in managing fleet operations, coordinating deliveries and collections, and ensuring service excellence across all European routes.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Day-to-day planning and scheduling of the fleet across European routes
- Ensuring customer service levels remain consistently high
- Optimising journeys to reduce costs and improve delivery efficiency
- Arranging reloads/backloads and maximising truck utilisation
- Allocating work to hauliers and managing subcontractor relationships
- Uploading jobs to internal transport systems and dispatching to drivers
- Monitoring compliance, tachograph legislation, and safe working practices
- Working with the workshop manager on breakdowns and vehicle maintenance
- Checking haulier documentation, licences, and insurance for compliance
- Managing customer portals and assisting hauliers with driver apps as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar role (e.g., Transport Planner or Fleet Manager)
- Strong understanding of transport/logistics processes, ideally with freight forwarding or European shipping
- Great communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Confident using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong UK & European geographical knowledge
- Any additional European language (e.g., French) is a bonus but not essential
- Familiarity with import/export documentation is a plus
