Salary: GBP26000 - GBP29000 per annum

PAYROLL AND PENSIONS COORDINATOR REQUIRED FOR A MAY START!! BASED NEAR TAMWORTH 12 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT £26,000 - £29,000 PER ANNUM + EXCELLENT BENEFITS + PENSION + FREE PARKING

My client is a well known organisation who work with schools across the Midlands. Due to an internal change with their payroll structure they are now looking to recruit a Payroll and Pensions Coordinator on an initial 12 month fixed term contract with a potential view of going to a permanent role following that. This is a pivotal position for the organisation as it will be dealing with 1200 monthly payroll of teachers across a region as well as dealing with Pension administration. The successful candidate will need to have an excellent command of MS Excel as there will be reporting and analysing of pension/payroll data to support queries that may arise from payroll. The successful applicant will get a generous pension contribution of 22% and will come with free parking. The interviews will be held at the end of April via virtual meeting with a view to start as soon as possible in May.

[ The role ]

  • Under the direction of the Head of HR, support schools in ensuring that our employees are paid accurately and on time adhering to internal as well as payroll system deadlines
  • Support school staff to ensure that maternity/paternity/adoption leave and KIT days are correctly paid
  • Implement annual increments and cost of living increases
  • Support the resolution of payroll queries both from the payroll provider and from schools
  • Process monthly claims for central employees
  • Process new starters, leavers and contract changes for central employees
  • Engage school users in their operation of and improve their understanding of the system through training and communication
  • Provide expert advice on IR35 and employment status, recovery of overpayments, statutory payments, salary sacrifice termination payments, national minimum wage and holiday pay adjustment
  • Resolve pension queries
  • Notify pension administrators of any changes to members’ terms and conditions
  • Notify pension administrators of any new starters or leavers
  • Ensure the LGPS and TPS banding reports are accurate and submitted
  • Complete and submit monthly and annual pension returns and investigate queries raised by the pension administrators
  • Use standard reports from our payroll system and also specify and build new reports when required.
  • Support the central function with the completion of KPI information
  • Support school colleagues with the completion of the annual school workforce census
  • Provide information and reports to the central functions upon request
  • Develop and maintain accurate reports using Excel and Business Objects to support pension reporting obligations

[ Person and skills required ]

  • Excellent command and use of the English language both written and verbal
  • Level 3 payroll qualification or equivalent experience 
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Advanced MS Excel experience with ability to re-create excel reports, maintain and amend them
  • Experience of administration a pension scheme
  • Ability to work to deadlines and calm under pressure
  • Excellent customer centric approach to assist with queries that come through
  • Knowledge of MHR iTrent systems would be advantageous
