Position:  NDT Operative (Radiography)

Location:  Sheffield

Salary:  £31,150 - £32,645.20 + shift allowance

Hours: 

  • Monday to Thursday: 6:00am – 2:00pm, Friday: 5:00am – 1:00pm
  • Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm, Friday: 1:00pm – 9:00pm - +25% shift allowance
  • Sunday to Friday: 10:00pm – 6:00am (night shift) - +36% shift allowance

Nicholas Associates have an opportunity for an experienced NDT Operative to join our client's inspection team. Primarily, qualified to Level 2 in Radiography with experience of castings Inspection within the aerospace, nuclear or oil and gas industries is sought, a qualification in Computed Radiography would be a distinct advantage.

Radiography Duties

·       Routine control checks to validate the inspection process and verify equipment calibrations.

·       Keeping computerised inspection records and archiving paper records

·       Evaluate the results and make accept / rejection decisions based on customer acceptance criteria

·       Interpret specification and assist in production of NDT techniques for level III approval

·       Assist in audits and ensure continued compliance with the company’s NDT accreditations e.g., NADCAP and UKAS

·       Non-destructive examination of castings by Radiography using x-rays to reveal internal discontinuities

·       Operating computed radiography system utilising Phosphor Imagining Plates

·       Load and unload film cassettes and process films, check radiographs against samples to ensure correct setup

·       Carry out control checks, processor monitoring and verify equipment calibrations

·       Restock darkroom cupboards and replenish processing solutions

·       View and interpret radiographs produced in both in-house and externally by subcontractor and evaluate results in respect to customer acceptance.

 

Experience / Skills Required

·       Ideally qualified to EN4179 / NAS410 Level 2 (castings experience preferable but not essential)

·       Must have experience of inspection of castings within aerospace, nuclear or oil and gas industry

·       Must be willing to undergo relevant Company Based Re-Qualification to ASNT & NAS410

·       Willingness to undergo further training to gain Qualification in other methods where required

·       Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal

·       Computer literacy and experience of Microsoft Office Suite applications would be desirable, but training will be provided

·       Good team worker but someone who can also work under their own initiative
