SEN Teaching Assistant

SEN Teaching Assistant (RL9779) Scarborough, England

Salary: GBP70 - GBP85 per day

Castle Education are currently working with SEN establishments in and around the Scarborough area and they are currently seeking Behavioural Support to work either or a permanent or daily supply basis. The Behavioural Teaching Assistant will be committed to the children as routine is key. We have part-time and full-time hours available; the ideal SEN TA will be a flexible and readily available candidate.  The role would be suitable to anyone with previous SEN or EBD experience as the learners will need the targeted support and extensive experience will really propel you forward in this role.

The behavioural specialist will be working under the guidance of the designated teacher, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher with the management of the classroom. You are to provide physical and communicational support using modes of appropriate communication. You must also ensure the physical welfare of the students is appropriate to their needs, whilst assisting the learning and development of each individual student.

The daily rate for this role ranges between £70 - £85

Essential Requirements of the role

  • GTA, ATA or HLTA qualification
  • to enjoy working with other people
  • to be flexible and open to change
  • excellent verbal communication skills
  • knowledge of psychology
  • to be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service (Or Willing to gain one through Castle Education
  • sensitivity and understanding
  • patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Safeguarding qualifications
  • Experience of one to one support within an Education setting

The role will require patience and perseverance to support children within their studies who may have issues with behaviour or even SEN needs. You must be an effective communicator and ultimately you need to be resilient and adaptable to respond to challenges if required.
