SEN 1 to 1 (RL8720) York, England
We are currently looking for an experienced Makaton SEN 1:1 support Assistant to join a small community school on the outskirts of York.
The role will commence in September working 3 days per week and will on an on going basis, initially be for the duration of the Autumn term.
The role will work alongside the teaching staff, SENCO and external agencies providing day to day support for the pupil who has severe Autism and other learning difficulties.
The right candidate will have
experience of working with children in the last 12 months in a similar setting. Have at least 6 months previous experience of working within a special needs setting, in particular, those with complex and severe needs including Autism. Have specialist skills and training such as sign language (Makaton) Have a calm and patient manner with the ability to communicate well with others at all levels and build good relationships with students. A relevant teaching/Support qualification and current DBS registered with the Update Service. Enthusiasm to offer full support for the student and school where needed.
