Healthy Living NT (HLNT) is the trading name of the Diabetes Association of the NT Inc. which was established in 1980. The Association is a charitable, member based, organisation for people with diabetes and related conditions. As a consumer based organisation the Association is managed by a voluntary board, committed to the well-being of all people with diabetes and related conditions.Healthy Living NT is a member of the Good Health Alliance NT (GHANT), a coalition of NT chronic disease non-government organisations and collaborates with diabetes consumer organisations in Australia.

What’s the role?

  • Deliver evidence-based diabetes prevention and self-management information and education to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Improve awareness of the NDSS and the benefits of registration for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Engage with external consumer and professional networks, to understand the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  • Travel to remote and regional areas of the Northern Territory to provide information about diabetes in coordination with other health staff.
  • Provide information and advice about diabetes and associated health matters within scope of practice.

Is this the right role for you?

  • This is an identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander position, hence we will only accept applications from candidates who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Registration with AHPRA as a Registered/Enrolled Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner or Allied Health equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies, history and their cultures, including an understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in contemporary Australian society
  • NT Driver’s license
