What's the role?

  • Sup­port mother’s and family’s psy­cho­log­i­cal and envi­ron­men­tal issues, sup­port­ing the health and devel­op­ment of fam­i­ly includ­ing old­er chil­dren, pro­vid­ing oppor­tu­ni­ty for dis­cus­sion, clar­i­fi­ca­tion and rein­force­ment of clin­i­cal ante­na­tal care pro­vid­ed by usu­al ante­na­tal mid­wifery and prepa­ra­tion for parenting.
  • Guid­ed by a strengths-based and trau­ma-informed approach, sup­port and enable the moth­er and fam­i­ly to enhance their cop­ing, prob­lem solv­ing skills and abil­i­ty to mobi­lize resources.
  • Pro­mote, sup­port and mod­el­ling pos­i­tive par­ent-infant inter­ac­tion and deliv­ery of a stan­dard­ized struc­tured child devel­op­ment par­ent edu­ca­tion program.
  • This includes mod­el­ling and sup­port­ing fam­i­ly prob­lem solv­ing skills, sup­port­ing fam­i­lies to access fam­i­ly and infor­mal com­mu­ni­ty resources and pro­vid­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for fam­i­lies to inter­act with oth­er local fam­i­lies and the wider community.

Is the role right for you?

  • Cur­rent prac­tic­ing nurs­es’ cer­tifi­cate from The Aus­tralian Health Prac­ti­tion­ers Reg­u­la­tion Agency (AHPRA).
  • Min­i­mum of 5 years remote health expe­ri­ence with a demon­strat­ed under­stand­ing of issues per­tain­ing to Abo­rig­i­nal pri­ma­ry health care and expe­ri­ence work­ing in part­ner­ship with vul­ner­a­ble fam­i­lies includ­ing knowl­edge of the social deter­mi­nants of Abo­rig­i­nal health.
  • Week­ly trav­el Mon­day to Fri­day from Nhu­lun­buy to Galiwin’ku stay­ing for the work­ing week.
  • Cur­rent man­u­al driver’s license, cur­rent Work­ing with Chil­dren clear­ance (OCHRE Card) and cur­rent crim­i­nal his­to­ry check.
