Birmingham 2022 is looking for a Finance Coordinator to join our friendly Catering, Cleaning and Waste team. The right candidate will have excellent communication skills to be able to manage multiple Functional areas and stakeholders in the role. The purpose of this role is to assist the CCW team to manage the financial elements, provide fiscal control and financial reporting of the Catering, Cleaning and Waste Services at the Commonwealth Games.


This is an evolving position based at Games Headquarters and responsibilities may shift over time. The initial phase of this role will involve set up of the Catering, Cleaning and Waste contract financial reporting. The second phase will be based on-site and financially focused with financial monitoring, invoice reconciliation, daily reporting and issue resolution for the Catering, Cleaning and Waste contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial support to the Catering, Cleaning and Waste (CCW) Functional Area (FA) Management Team in the development and delivery of the Catering, Cleaning and Waste Services
  • Provide on-going reports to the Divisional Financial Planning Manager and Head of CCW regarding the monthly progress and activities
  • Validation and recording of Contractor invoices and liaising with the Financial Management team to support the smooth running of the finance system, internal controls, accounts payable and financial reporting.
  • Liaise with all relevant Functional Areas to ensure payment for any catering services, such as the Contractor Meal Programme, provided by the CCW FA.
  • Coordination between the Financial Planning Department and the CCW FA to ensure continued awareness of risks or opportunities to budget through monthly reforecasting
  • Monitoring and recording of financial, contractual, and budget documents (i.e. addition to scope, change control forms, KPI penalty calculations)
  • Creation of relevant reporting documents required and deliver associated training on completion of reports to each of the Contractors

Skills and Experience


Essential

  • Demonstrable strong analytical, problem solving skills and commercial acumen
  • Skilled in the use of information technology, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, frequently under pressure and on multiple tasks
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and time-management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accurate reporting


Desirable

  • Qualified (or part-qualified) Accountant (ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA).
  • Dynamic, self-motivated and innovative
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills
  • Experienced in similar finance role or strong finance background
