Randstad Education is currently recruiting a qualified Food Tech Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school team starting January 4th, 2027 through to the end of the academic year on July 20th, 2027. This unique 4-day-a-week fixed-term contract runs every day except Wednesdays, providing a fantastic work-life balance while delivering full timetable impact.

As a Food Tech Teacher covering full PPA across the department, you will lead engaging practical cookery and theory sessions, taking ownership of planning, preparation, and assessment to ensure continuous pupil progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver Practical & Theoretical Lessons: As an impactful Food Tech Teacher, you will plan, prepare, and teach dynamic Food Preparation and Nutrition lessons across KS3 and KS4.

• Full PPA Cover & Teaching Duties: Take full responsibility for class preparation, constructive marking, student assessments, and coursework monitoring during your 4 active days.

• Kitchen Safety & Food Hygiene: Uphold strict health, safety, and hygiene standards across food technology rooms, ensuring tools, cookers, and ingredients are managed safely.

• Inspire Healthy Life Skills: Teach pupils essential culinary techniques, food provenance, balanced nutrition, and kitchen safety.

• Departmental Support: Collaborate closely with technicians and departmental peers to organize practical sessions and track pupil attainment.

Candidate Profile

We are searching for an organized, enthusiastic Food Tech Teacher with excellent classroom leadership and strong practical food knowledge.

• Mandatory Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.

• Proven track record of working as a Food Tech Teacher delivering Food & Nutrition within a UK secondary setting.

• Solid understanding of kitchen safety, hygiene protocols, and managing practical cookery sessions.

• Ability to commit to the full 4-day schedule (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays) from January 4th, 2027 to July 20th, 2027.

• Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
