Transport Planner (6209) Bristol, England

Salary: GBP13 - GBP13.46 per hour

Gi Group are looking for a Transport Planner based in Bristol who will be responsible for the effective planning and coordination of vehicle movements, driver schedules, and delivery routes to ensure a safe, efficient, and cost-effective transport operation. The role involves liaising with drivers, customers, and internal departments to ensure service levels are achieved while maintaining compliance with transport legislation and company procedures.

 

- Monday to Friday

- 08:00am - 18:00pm (flexibility offered)

- £13.00 per hour

- Temp to perm

 

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule daily transport operations, ensuring efficient utilisation of vehicles and drivers.

• Create and optimise delivery and collection routes to maximise efficiency and minimise costs.

• Monitor vehicle movements and respond to any operational issues or delays.

• Liaise with drivers regarding schedules, route changes, customer requirements, and transport updates.

• Maintain accurate transport records and planning documentation.

• Communicate with customer service to provide updates on delivery and collection schedules.

• Work closely with warehouse, customer service, sales, and operational teams to meet customer requirements.

• Investigate and resolve delivery issues, customer complaints, and service failures.

• Support continuous improvements within the transport operation.

• Ensure adherence to all H&S requirements

• To undertake any other additional tasks as required by the Company

Person Specification

 

Essential Experience

• Previous experience in a transport planning, logistics, or fleet coordination role.

• Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.

• Strong organisational and planning skills.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to problem-solve and make decisions quickly.

Desirable

• Experience using transport management systems (TMS).

• Experience working within a distribution or logistics environment.
